The 8 AKC groups: 2 - Hounds

The Hound Group is divided into two categories: The Sighthounds (like the Greyhound) and the Scent Hounds (like the Bloodhound.) This group also includes the Dachshund, the small member of the group, and one most people don't think of as a hound.

The Sighthounds tend to be long-legged and tall, with a graceful sort of look about them. The Greyhound, coonhounds, and Whippet are in this category.

The Scenthounds, like the Beagle, Bloodhound, and Basset Hound, as you might have guessed, are the hounds that you see walking around with their noses to the ground. They tend to be a lot more

The Dachshund, which comes in both long and short haired varieties, is neither a Sighthound or a Scenthound. They are just Dachshunds.

Hounds aren't all that intelligent, having low to average intelligence and they tend to be stubborn. But if you like the hound personality and/or want a hunting dog. They could be good dog for you.
