Guinea pigs are often kept in cages that are too small. One cage I
saw, little more that 3 square feet (too small for one pig, let alone two) for $40. I saw another cage with about 5.5 square feet that would work, (but a bigger cage
might be better) but it cost $120!
Have you ever heard of a C and C cage? It stands for Coroplast
(sort of like plastic cardboard) and cubes (wire cubes, used for
storage). It is a very simple design, that's seems pretty easy to make.
Some detailed insructions can be found on this site: Cavy Cages.
One
of the goals for making this project is to save money. Don't buy the
name brand Coroplast. Home Depot has an 18 square foot piece of
corogated plastic for about $12 you could make one huge cage, or make
extra levels.
I looked at a bunch of websites to find the cheapest cubes. $20 for a black set, $21 for white or color. So it would cost less than the small cage a discribed earlier to make a far large cage.
