Silkie Chicken

Silkie chickens are one of the most unusual breeds of chicken. They appear to have fur instead of feathers - and lots of it!

Because they are extremely tame and friendly you can really take advantage of those soft, fluffy feathers. They like to be held a lot more than most chicken breeds.  

Another interesting thing about Silkies is that they only come in Bantam size. 

If you are looking for an interesting, small, and friendly chicken breed, and you don't mind having fewer eggs than larger, less ornamental chickens, than the Silkie is the perfect breed of chicken for you.
